Oba Afolabi, the oldest king in Oyo State, the Onilua of Ilua, passes away at the age of 141.

He died in the early hours of Saturday, May 24, after a brief illness.

The monarch was born in 1879 and became king in 1982 at a tender age of 102.

What exactly are the duties expected of a traditional ruler, if there are, how could he had performed them even at the age he was installed as a king, not to talk of thereafter?

Quite typical of hereditary monarchy- particularly[but not peculiar to] African.

The rules of primogeniture are strictly adhered to. Age is never really a factor. As long as he's next in line to throne then his age would not really have matter.

It is that simple.

The best you can do is waive your right to the throne.

And even at that, some cultures don't permit that.

WTF! He lived through three decades (19th, 20th and 21st centuries). Baba don enjoy planet earth to the fullest.
