Man went online to share the photo of the made in London Kilishi he ordered online which costs £5.50.

He claimed that inside a nylon, there were just two little piece of Kilishi which he finished in no time.

Nigerians Reacts to this as some claim it's just a waste of finance.

We don't know what we have in this country

Everyone just got eyes on oil and useless degrees.

You don't need a degree to be successful in Nigeria .

Nobody deserve to be poor in Nigeria .

I can see a lot of ignorant comments above.
Dried meat is a delicacy that is eaten across the world.
In the US it's known as Beef Jerky.
In Mexico it's known as Carne Seca.
In Spain it's known as Cecina.
In Turkey it's known as Pastrima.
In China it's known as Bakkwa.
In South Africa it's known as Biltong.

For the fact that it isn't made in Nigeria, that meat is not Kilishi. It is an impostor and a fake masquerading as the original thing.

Yes but that could be the ideal price. It's not all about converting to a different currency, it's also about the worth of the money in the home country. I cut my hair for $25 (or sometimes $20 cause the guy is Nigerian). It'll be mad of me to start considering the naira conversion cause in that case, I'll have to convert my salary too, the guy's business overheads, etc.

Well, they are making money but it's not really as it seems cause they also spend in a similar fashion. The barber might be paying $1,500 per month for a one bedroom apartment. Revenue cannot be treated in isolation.

Funny how we moved from how "expensive" kirishi (an other goods and services) is abroad to how "big" people make it out there. At the end, it all balances out and it will just be a matter of how much you are eventually able to save. It's not always that much but yeah, people make it. I mean, if they are not making money, they won't remain here. I only wanted to put thing into perspectives for better understanding.

When one guy said that there are Nigerians who order pizza daily from UK we thought it was a joke.

Here's one evidence as to how extravagant some of us can be

Nah!! It's sort of pricey. I hope the price is halved by the time it arrives in the U.S so we can get a taste.

It could be really, no doubt. My point is, it would be hard to tell by just looking at the amount because "pricey" is very relative. It's a function of the purchasing power and the cost of living in a given area. Converting that sum to dollar might result to an amount you'd call pricey (or cheap as the case may be) but that will be you judging by the salary potentials and the relative cost of things in the US/Canada. It's not really different from someone in Nigeria converting the price of bottle water in the US to naira and screaming at the resulting amount (just an example, I don't know the price). So except you stay in the UK or you understand the cost of things over there as it relates to production and people's revenue, you can't just hear how much a none luxurious commodity is sold somewhere in the world and determine if it's pricey or not. As for the selling price when it gets to the US, will the US really import that? Unless the demand is high and the cost of manufacturing it in North America is higher than the cost of importing it, such items that translate as "pricey" in a different region are not always exported.

Just to buttress my point; still using haircut as an example, I once cut my hair for 70AED in UAE. I complained that it was too expensive and my friend converted the amount to CAD, showed to me and said it was almost the same as the amount I use to cut my hair in Toronto. But then, I insisted that that wasn't a yardstick. I'm sure I was actually cheated because judging by the price of other commodities in Dubai, I could tell that 70AED was a bit on the high side for such a small salon and the cost of living is slightly higher in Toronto.

I don't know if you get me.
