• What Is STROKE?

A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by "clot" or burst open causing bleeding in the brain.

A Blood clot is a clump of blood that has changed from liquid to gel-like or semi-solid state.

• Causes Of STROKE?

1. HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
- Also known as "Hypertension". It's the biggest cause of stroke. HBP can cause blood clots that block blood flow to the brain or cause blood vessels to burst causing stroke.

2. SMOKING
- Nicotine found in cigarettes raises BP.

Cigarette smoking thickens the blood and increases the chances of blood clot formation. Even secondhand smoking.

3. DIABETES
- It damages blood vessels and increases the chances of stroke.
Most diabetics are also hypertensive.

4. FAMILY
- It runs in the family. If you have any one suffer stroke in your family,it's better you stay away from causes of stroke.

5. AGE
- Anyone can have stroke even babies in the womb. The chances go up as you age then doubles at age 55.

6. GENDER
- Men are more likely to have stroke compared to women. So men look watch your BP and sugar level.

7. OVERWEIGHT
- Overweight doesn't mean you're living the life. Obesity increases the risk of hypertension, diabetes and therefore stroke... Watch your STOMOK!

8. DIET
- Foods that are high on cholesterol, salt are not good for you.

B- Balance
Loses balance and falls
E- Eyes
No longer sees well in one or both eyes

F- Face
Face dropping to one side
A- Arms
Can't lift one arm
S- Speech
Can't make audible speech

• Prevention Of STROKE?

- About 80% of stroke cases are actually PREVENTABLE

1. Life Style Changes
- Stop smoking, reduce alcohol intake and exercising regularly will reduce risk of stroke

2. Eat Well
- Cut down on some processed meal full of cholesterol and too much salt

NOTE: That men are more likely to suffer from stroke doesn't mean women are free. In fact women who suffer stroke are more likely to die from it than men.

Obasa recovered and he is living a healthier baby boy life in the abroad.
