Today, news came out that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the creation of five new zonal commands of the Nigeria Police Force, thereby increasing the Commands to 17 across the country. One of the the newly created commands is Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Command with headquarters in Ukpo-Dunukofia in Anambra State.

There is no logical basis to site this headquarters in Ukpo except that Arthur Eze used his influence and money to do the magic. It is all part grand plan to hijacking and putting Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi zonal police command structure in his pocket. This is dangerous, very dangerous!

In any case, there is no logistic justification for locating this headquarters in Ukpo, which is very far from Enugu and Ebonyi states when there are border towns nearer to the two States. Let's face, what is even wrong in locating this headquarters in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. In this light, I expect Executive Governors of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States as well as both the state and federal legislators from these states to rise up and stop this dangerous development before it takes roots.

There is no doubt that Arthur Eze has the resources to put up buildings that house the police command within a short time but at what cost?

I also expect Town Unions in Anambra State to stand up and fight on time because Arthur Eze is sure coming for your lands and you know what, he will come with the police in tow!

Wether good or bad Arthur Eze has influence, if not this police command rightfully should have been sited in Enugu since it is more central.

Ukpo is very much part of the great Awka metropolis, it is not up to 20 minutes distance from Awka capital.

Even when the Eastern zonal command was at Abia state he influenced things, so what exactly will change if this project is sited in Ukpo

He might also have promised to erect all this structures by himself which could sway government position based on the lack of funds for execution of capital projects in this government.

What the surrounding towns in Ukpo need is to balance Arthur Ezeh terror with their own influence. Chimamanda threw her weight last year and it got a lot of people's attention. So others sons and daughters with influence should team up and counter his dominance any way they could.
