It's a welcome idea but they should extend it to other state of the federation, it shouldn't be Lagos alone.

Whats the point of clearing out open gutters when those gutters will be filled up again in no time because, guess what? THEY ARE OPEN GUTTERS.

What’s the point of telling citizens not to throw stuff in the gutters?

Name one country where their citizens don’t litter, just one.

The difference is, these countries don’t have open gutters, so road sweepers can simply sweep away garbage.

However in Nigeria, with an OPEN GUTTER on every street, like a badge of honor, you expect trash not to enter open gutters? Then you start begging citizens not to litter, as if you can attain a society with 100% compliance?

I’m tired of all these African politicians abeg, simple open gutter, you can’t cover or burry underneath a sidewalk?

If I am the president of naija I will make it a criminal offence to construct open drainage. unless it's for large drain systems and must be fenced

I will have rather liked to see the Federal Government directly involved in the completion of at least one of the lines in the ongoing metro system. That will make more strategic sense. It should cede these bridges to the Lagos taxpayer and put money into more important projects that has greater potentials in sorting out the congestion problems that wear out road infrastructure very quickly.

It should take an equity stake in the metro system and liquidate same as soon as the system is up, running and returning investment. By so doing it will show the Lagos state government how to commercialise infrastructure in best practices which will trigger further investment by other interests.

That to me is the fastest way of completing the metro system meaningfully. If the state government hopes to finance the project by debt or its resouces alone all in a bid to render a social service by government bureaucracy it will wait an eternity and it will not succeed.

The Federal Government should help. The dconomic potentials of the metro are massive.
