Detoxing your body brings a lot of significant positive changes to your physical state. But what about your mind?

It is true that by detoxing your body, you can lift the fog over your brain and help with things such as anxiety and depression. Let's take that a step further.

What better time to detox your mind then while you detox your body. Mind clutter leads to a lack of focus, stress, indecision, mistakes, health issues, and general unhappiness.

Here are some steps you can take to detox your mind while detoxing your body.

1. Intention – Before beginning your mental detox process, set an intention for this season or the next chapter of your life. This will give you focus and direction when it comes to growth instead of just leaving it up to chance. Write this intention down and put it in a place that you see it often to remind yourself daily.

2. Spend Time Outside – The outdoors can bring encouragement, inspiration, and an increase in energy levels to both your mind and your body. Research has shown that spending time with nature improves your overall physical and mental well-being, lowers stress, enhances concentration, and quiets the mind.

3. Step Away From Technology – In today's society, our access to information is constant and in real-time.

In order to find a deeper state of self-reflection and clarity, you'll need to step away from this.

Social demands can be overwhelming, so you want to carve out time away from phones, social media, texting, calls, and emails.

You want to unplug your life for at least a little bit of time. Set boundaries for yourself.

This can also be a great way to build a stronger relationship with your loved ones.

Go for walks, silence notifications, turn off all electronics at least 30 minutes before bedtime, have a designated room where electronics are not allowed, and create a conscious intention to not pick up your phone.

4. Meditation – Did you know that the human mind has a minimum of 50,000 thoughts every single day?

It's so very easy for your mind to follow random thoughts and get lost and distracted.

Meditation can help calm and soothe that racing mind. When you practice focus and breathing you teach yourself to focus on just one thing at a time which can be used in all aspects of your life.

You will be able to focus on what your needs are, and give them more attention. This will allow you to detox your mind from the less important things.

Mental health is incredibly important and often times put to the side when dealing with every day life.

When detoxing your mind also use tactics such as journaling or venting, asking yourself the important questions that pertain to who you are and where you want to be, let go of the things that have passed and you can no longer change.

Go over your calendars and minimize the amount of things you do each and every day. Saying no and visualizing what you want your future to be like can help you do this.
