Indigenous broadcasting in Nigeria began on a note of friction. It was informed by a huge disagreement between two political bid wigs in the colonial era. It was precisely between Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the leader of Action Group political party and Sir John McPherson, Governor General of Nigeria at that time.
