On this day 15 years ago , six Igbo traders were shot and killed by policemen in Apo Abuja.

While you protest for the death of George Floyd, do you know？

Ibrahim Danjuma, the policeman who ordered the shooting of 6 Igbo traders in APO ABUJA on June 7 2005 was promoted to AIG, assistant inspector general of police in 2018?

Do you know that he Ibrahim Danjuma strangled the female one himself？

Do you know that she was the same girl who rejected his advances in a night club in area 11 Garki？

Do you know that a panel set up by OBJ indicted them all with a thorough investigation and odered their trial？

Do you know the panel discovered that the police officers planted guns inside their car and tagged them armed robbers ?

Do you know the panel discovered where the guns came from ? In fact , it was supplied by the DPO Apo police station , guns recovered Fromm hotel two weeks earlier ?

Do you know the only survivor of the attack was arrested and killed the following morning?

Do you know they were buried in a shallow grave in Utako?

Do you know that one of the officers testified against the police ? Do you know the officer who testified died mysteriously before further testimony and autopsy revealed he was poisoned ?

Do you know that the DPO who supplied the planted guns mysteriously disappeared from his cell in police headquarters Abuja and haven’t been found till date ?

Do you know he was irrespective of his crimes acquitted in 2017？

Do you know the panel found them guilty of murdering the six Igbo traders and also conspiracy to cover it up ? A cover up which includes the murder of a police officer .

During their trial , do you know that two officers confessed that Ibrahim Danjuma odered the killings and strangled the female one himself which corroborated the findings of the panel?

Do you know the two officers were sentenced to death ?
Do you know that Ibrahim Danjuma the murderer , orderer and mastermind of the whole saga is free ?

Do you know he was reinstated, promoted to to assistant commissioner of police and all salary /promotion arrears from 2005 to 2017 paid?

Do you know he was promoted to AIG, March 2018？

Do you know that the murderers are free ? One missing and the mastermind on his way to head the Nigerian police .

Do you know that while on trial between 2005 and 2017, he didn't even lose his job or get demotion？

For the blatant murder of a girl who rejected him along with his his fiancé and 4 other friends , Ibrahim Danjuma is a decorated Assistant Inspector General of Police .

That is the country you live in .

Police brutality is a day to day activity in Nigeria. I guess most Nigerians have come to accept it in a way, and keep their heads down.

Also, the reason why most Nigerians are not protesting is this. Nigerians are not aware that we are living in a democracy. And living ina democracy involves a lot of hard work, hard work hard work.

Here on Nairaland, I see a lot of energy being wasted on Biafra, Oodua, Islamic republic, true federalism, fiscal restructuing, etc etc. But ask the chaps to go and take part in the political process, so that their dreams can be actualized (eg on Biafra, Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President, has given a step by step process as to how Biafra can be achieved via the current democratic dispensation)and all they will do is argue that 'the Northerners won't allow it'. Well, that's laziness speaking.



If we want justice for the Apo 6 and indeed for anyone killed unjustly by the police, we first have to see democracy as a process, which we must be an active part of...by voting, or running for elections, or putting pressure on our leaders, etc etc. The sad thing is that we, and that includes me, are not ready to do the hard work.

Im weak and speechless. Where are those #blacklivesmatter? Black Lives Matter has provoked Belgians to bring down the statue of their former king that killed many Congoleses many decades ago. So that come here and say this happened long time ago.
