While hot captions and sensational news is often misleading, the more informed people know the truth but for the sake of those who just read the caption the truth they deserve to know.

There was no 7.9 billion recovered from Okorocha but rather he was blocked from accessing 7.9 billion Naira of Imo State money he saved up for the State because EFCC had intelligence report that he wanted to use part of it to execute 2019 elections.

Below is an old news which is self explanatory.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it was forced to freeze N5 billion belonging to Imo State government because of the suspicious ways the State governor, Rochas Okorocha, was spending from the state funds.

The agency said it was unconformable with cash outflow from the state’s account during the 2019 general election.

The EFCC’s Zonal Head for South-East, Usman Imam, said this during a chat with journalists on Monday.

He explained, “About N7.9bn is what had been blocked, although with pressure, subsequently, about N2.5bn was released for salaries. On the whole, we have over N5bn of those funds blocked; we are following up to see what actually happened.

“Honestly, what we discovered was that within two days, N700m was withdrawn in cash; N200m on the first day and N500m on the second day and all these monies were disbursed in a manner that was honestly unpalatable.

“Distribution to school teachers; I don’t know, schools that you were not funding and you woke up on the eve of the election and withdrew N500m cash and start distributing N1000 each or so to teachers. Whatever that means, I don’t know.

“When we came in, we were able to save about seventy something million of the funds that we discovered were not disbursed, we also blocked it. People are still answering questions as to who asked them to move those monies, monies that were blocked at the banks.”

Imam added that the sad story about this was that these monies were the intervention funds; the bailout funds that the Federal Government released to states to pay salaries when they were having problems paying salaries.

“They didn’t utilise that money to pay the salaries; they warehoused it and kept it until the election period, they started attempting to draw down the money. Whatever happens, we have saved over N5bn of that money, as we talk, two weeks to handover. Probably, the next government would have that money to use it better. There are a lot of other general investigations going on in Imo right now.”

You have no shame.

Seems you are born stupid otherwise i see no reason to call the news a sensational headline news.

The part you posted showed that okorocha was reckless even with the funds made available to him. Why try to soundlike the news is misleading

Python okorocha would have swallowed this money like he swallowed most of our money and left the state so poor that it hurts.

That story is fake sensational headline. First of all no money was stolen nor recovered from Okorocha but rather money saved up by same Okorocha for Imo State was frozen to prevent him from using it for 2019 elections. The reason given by EFCC was flimsy and funny. Tell me if EFCC had ever frozen any State account on grounds that the Governor was making reckless spending? Just show me one instance or was Okorocha the only "reckless spender" ever to exist in Nigeria?

Only people with small brain will fail to understand the true underlying issue

I know the story is fake, just to paint mental delusion and soothe emotional blackmail, how can you recover 7.6billion for OKorocha and he is still walking on the street?

Really, you are defending okorochas recklessness.

A man who stole furniture and fittings before leaving office, a man who almost stole a state owned higher institution
A man who has no known legacy after 8 years in office.

Shame on you for attempting to defend fraud and criminality.

The names Michael opara, Ambrose ali still rings a bell.

What legacy did your criminal paymaster leave behind.

Okorocha was not building any statue with 520 million. That's a fairytale told 4 year old toddler who cannot reason on his own but believes what Daddy said. All Governors and even President can be accused of reckless spending but a Governor that was able to preserve over 40 billion in 8 years is better than the ones who left nothing for their successor.

Meanwhile this deserves to be in front page so that the truth is laid bare after false publication. I know Nigerians have short memory and most might have forgotten when this same 7.9 billion made headlines last year.

Everything Okorocha achieved in his wasted 8 years reign was cosmetic additions that has all but collapsed, except akachi that is still standing as a mockery.

History will always remember Okorocha as a fraudster.

It was wrong for Rocha's okorocha to spend money meant for the welfare of the people reckleslly but truth be told he is not the first to do that. A classical case was the release of bailout fund to Pain state in the eve of election, the money was release to only Osun when FG was still contemplating about the condition to distribute bailout fund but the FG went ahead and release bailout to Osun state and we all know what it was meant for.
