When it's Lagos and her environs, the Igbos go berserk. There is Keyamo street in Lagos. There are Ethiopia, Kinshasa, Maputo Streets in KADUNA. Streets and Roads are name by Local Government and Government to soothe themselves. I know there's no Yoruba street anywhere in the SE. Don't worry, Time will tell.
How many yourubas have landed properties in igboland?? Most of these name is to appreciate the efforts of particular or person in development of a state. U don't expect a street to name after yourubas when you refuse to invest and live amongst the people

My broda, you no well. Buy property for Igbo land? All the properties wey my Igbo broda buy, na cockroaches and rats go pay rent?

Yoruba are comfortable at home like New Yorkers you hardly see outside of NY.

Create some incentives, tolerance and accommodation like Yoruba states, you may attract a couple of Yoruba but I doubt it.

I reside in Abia state, we have Lagos, Kaduna,Kano, port harcourt, niger etc as roads and streets in Umuahia and Aba.

The naming of the street is to encourage unity within the many cultures and tribes in Nigeria, the naming of the street can only do much if our mindset and biases are corrected politically. I lived and visited many western and northern states, the care and kindness was beyond what I was told, with 14 years and counting, visiting other Nigerian states I found out our disunity is political than religious and tribal.

Note:
I stand to be corrected but these are my personal findings.

Just to foster one Nigeria, don't forget Lagos was once a federal capital......... There's also a location in asokoro abuja, where you'll found almost all the States of Nigeria on street names.

Talking nonsense.
In Aba there are Lagos st and Ibadan road even at Umuahia

My take is there is no single Eastern states names here.It is my area.I wonder why it was so and it is still so.
Mind you, both Igbos and the Hausas are very scanty in these area but if it were done for cultural integration, the present govt in Lagos should at least give 2 or so streets SEastern names.

Are you okay ?

There is Awolowo street beside Zik Avenue in Enugu.

There's another street in Kenyatta that begins with Ade. Can't recall.

Are you an indigene of Lagos or you live around this place?
I did not even know the compounds were up to 20.Do you know the names of the others?

Im an indigene of Isale Eko (Iduntafa), not Epetedo. There are twenty compounds and two Igas in Epetedo.

I dont know them all but even if i do, in these days of fluid originality, not everything should go internet.

Anyone with the info r mation can claim to be Epetedo pikin and would be difficult to disprove.

Certain secrets remain privileged and a way to filter pretenders and late-age settlers from indigenes.

There is a culture of not selling land to non native in igbo land. I doubt if there is a single south south man living in core igbo land. Nnewi people for example don't sell land to a non nnewi man but everywhere else in south south, you see Igbo buying up people ancestral houses, properties & land.

Are we really serious about Biafra. What happens to these properties should Nigeria disintegrate?

Igbos are not accommodating though

I guess so because we have brickfield street and so on but why didn't they add the Eastern states names if it were to encourage cultural exchange?

Ebute-Metta not Ebutte Meta has been in existence for over 150 years. If you notice, many of the old roads in Ebute Metta(before Independence)were named after White Colonial officers ie. Hughes Avenue, McEwen, Glover, etc, others named after African Nationalists ie Herbert Macaulay.
roads were also named after Yoruba cities as well,, Abeokuta, Ibadan etc.

Brickfield actually got its name from the practice that COSTAIN West Africa did back in the early 20s. they imported fired bricks and stored them in that area. that why if you dig anywhere in that area, you'll see red earth.
