COVID 19 OUTBREAK ON SHELL BONGA FPSO IN NIGERIA
There is covid-19 outbreak in Shell operated Bonga FPSO located in Bonga field, 120km offshore Nigeria.

The Bonga Field is an oilfield in Nigeria. It was located in License block OPL 212 off the Nigerian coast, which was renamed OML 118 in February 2000. The field covers approximately 60 km2 in an average water depth of 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). The field was discovered in 1996, with government approval for its development given in 2002. The field began first production in November 2005. The field is worked via an FPSO vessel.

In a usual way of Shell management deceiving the public, they have refused to down man the affected facility in order to evacuate personnel to further stop the spread. Over 10 personnel from the vessel have tested positive to covid-19. This is an isolated location where it is practically impossible to observe social distancing as the living quarters and utilities are closely shared. Subsequently, over 160 personnel onboard the Bonga FPSO would be regarded as primary contacts.

It is now evident that Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) is trying to hide this information from the public in their greedy quest for oil production at the expense of public health.

I urge Royal Dutch Shell management to stop paying lip service to safety and do the needful by evacuating all personnel onboard immediately to get all them tested and then follow all the due process for decontamination of the vessel before it can be inhabited again.
