According to NCDC boss Chikwe Ihekweazu who was grilled by Reps members, So far, FG has released two tranches of funds to the NCDC. The first was preparedness release before the outbreak reached Nigeria of N620Million. In addition, 5 billion was released to NCDC to enable response activities.

Details of expenses

N380Million on procurement medical and laboratory supplies,

N258Million in the deployment of rapid response teams across the country

N192Million in the emergency procurement of medical equipment

N142Million in the engagement of ad-hoc staff

N101Million on surveillance and response activities

N41Million on various repairs reconstruction work

N34Million on training

N22Million on supporting the supply chain

N6Million in risk communications

N41Million on tax

In total they NCDC has spent a total of N1.2Billion in the response of Covid-19 in Nigeria. Of the remaining funds, the NCDC boss says that they have mapped out some of the funds for various activities such as increase lab capacity, among others.
