MTN Pulse has announced the launch of the new MTN Pulse Daily, Weekly and Monthly Social Pass bundles, effective immediately until 16 July 2020, which sees the introduction of 1GB valid for a day for R25. The new MTN Pulse Social Pass bundles are an extension to the existing Social bundles. The network provider says that these bundles give customers on MTN Pulse access to Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and YouTube, all in one bundle. “Social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter are essential for our youth customers to remain connected. Through these attractively priced bundles, MTN is connecting its youth customers with the services that resonate with them by ensuring that they can use their favourite online platforms to connect with friends and families. These bundles have been introduced at an opportune time when more people are interacting online due to restrictions on personal movement,” says Nonhlanhla Sibiya, Manager for MTN Pulse at MTN SA. In addition, MTN has also launched a 1-hour 500MB TikTok bundle as part of the MTN Pulse Social Bundles. This is to cater for the MTN Pulse subscribers who need access to TikTok at an affordable price. The pricing for the new social pass bundles are as follows: Continue From Source

Silentgroper: No, don't chase them out. Just give your regulators teeth, that's what happens in SA. By the way, foreign companies bring innovation into new markets. |

Silentgroper: They're trying to buy Cell C here in SA too, but MTN is very good at monopolising the market - so Orange might struggle there too. I think Airtel is not doing so well there, right (Indian telecom)? |

TMKsouth:.yeah. I guess. Airtel's ownership is between the middle easterners or the indians.i cant say for sure. they might struggle in s.a. But down here , once they pay their dues, they wouldnt encounter no troubles or struggle being a network operator |

edoairways: I'm not sure but I think it's because Vodacom and MTN are so dominant. Cell C was the third network to launch but relied heavily on Vodacom infrastructure, so that might have been the problem. Virgin came in from Britain and faced similar challenges. Now the state-owned Telkom is carving in a niche in the market by offering an affordable and stable data network - seems to be working. But Vodacom and MTN have monopolised the sector, which is what will eventually occur in Nigeria too. |

edoairways: Depends on the power dynamics in Nigeria. What is mtns market share and have competitors managed to challenge that successfully so far? Are they putting up their own infrastructure or relying on MTNs wide reach? There's a reason their slogan is "Everywhere You Go" - their network is expansive. Plus, they don't play nice and are a global player, so they're very good at this game. Orange won't scare them. |
