ATTENTION: STUDENTS ARE THE POLITICAL FUTURE OF ANY HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT; THEY MUST HAVE A MAJOR STAKE IN GOVERNANCE!

We find it disturbing to read the press text issued by certain political jobbers who are being used by some feudal Lords in the Nigerian political system to destabilise the students' movement.

Though, we are not unfamiliar with the antics of these feudal Lords, hence, we are not shocked that their moles amongst us in the students' movement could issue a press text to throw their weight behind their paymasters. But, it must be made known and clearly stated that these feudal Lords have consistently plant unprogressive and shallow-minded individuals in the students' movement for the sake of championing their neo-fascist scheme which is aimed at impoverishing the Nigerian people.

Government, in clear terms exists for the society and not the society for the government. Hence, it is just necessary and an historical responsibility for us as students' leaders to demand for accountability and transparency from government officials while championing the interests of all Nigerian students as it has been vested on us in the NANS Charter of Demand.

As students' leaders, it is very important for us to go back to the trenches and start demanding for accountability and transparency because, as youths, we are the vanguard of revolution and the true agents of change and we must not for any reason be found wanting by acting in the contrary.

It is shameful and an insult on the collective intelligence of all Nigerian students for some impostors to be making use of the name of the association to praise-sing politicians while discrediting dissents all in the name of political correctness.

NANS as a students' body is not meant to be an extension of any politician or government but to always act as a pressure group that it is by demanding for accountability and transparency while speaking up when it matters most especially in the area of taking radical position on issues of governance.

It must be stated without fear of being contradicted that the call which was made by the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) for the probe of the activities of the immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is not out of place. In fact, such call is necessary to put government on its toes as it is a wake-up call meant to charge the government to act by not overlooking irregularities thereby turning some persons to sacred cows.

As an association, we do not see any correlation between the call that was made by NAOSS and the press text which was issued by a charlatan aimed at discrediting a genuine call while providing a soft-landing for the ex-Governor. The press text has only shown to us where the impostor pitched his tent and it has also convinced us the more that he and his cohorts are tools in the hands of the ex-Governor to balkanise and weaken the association.

We throw our weight behind the call that was made by NAOSS for the probe of the administration of Sen. Ibikunle Amosun and we also call on the State government to prioritise students' welfare most especially by paying serious attention to the educational sector of the State which include but not limited to;

1. Renovation and construction of lecture theatres across the State-owned educational institutions.

2. Remuneration of lecturers across the State-owned educational institutions in the State.
