Yes, everyone knows of his good humour and oratorical prowess. However, only a few consider Yemi Osinbajo’s biography which is quite interesting. Now, without further ado, let’s begin. Yemi Osinbajo Childhood Story Plus Untold Biography Facts: Early Starting off, Oluyemi Oluleke “Yemi” Osinbajo was born on the 8th day of March 1957 at Creek Hospital in Lagos State. He was the second of five children born to his mother Olubisi Osinbajo (a school teacher) and to his father Opeoluwa Osinbajo (an engineer). Young Yemi grew up in the commercial city of Lagos State, beholding spectacles of the smallest southwestern Nigerian city that won’t stop growing. The youngster was raised by his monogamous parents alongside his older brother Femi and younger siblings Akin, Tunde and Tolu. Yemi’s family is a Christian household that has a history of Christianity, in fact, his paternal grandmother was a prophetess!. Consequently, discipline and cultural values were not alien to the upbringing of Yemi who exhibited a blend of the aforementioned qualities to the delights of his parents. “Their father always told them that whenever they wanted to greet an elderly person, they should prostrate. One day, Yemi prostrated in court for his friend’s father and the man really appreciated the gesture because even his own son didn’t prostrate in the courtroom”. Recalled Mrs Opeoluwa of Yemi’s upbringing. Yemi was unlike his peers at the time, enrolled early in school by his enlightened parent. His academic background comprises his primary or elementary education at Corona School in Lagos State. He thereafter progressed to Igbobi College Yaba where he had his secondary or high school education. While at the school, Osinbajo was renowned for his oratory, a skill that did not only see him win prizes for English oratory but dictated the course of his future studies. “Daddy wanted Yemi to be a doctor and took him to science school. However, as a teacher, I felt Yemi should be a lawyer because he performed better in art subjects. One day, the principal of the school they attended, came to daddy and told him that ‘Yemi would make an exceptional lawyer but he would be an ordinary doctor’. It was then that daddy withdrew Yemi from science class and took him to art class”. Thus began Yemi’s early steps towards Law, a course he would later study at the University of Lagos (1975-1978) to obtain his first degree. Subsequent pursuits saw Yemi acquire professional training at Nigerian Law School and thereafter, bagged his masters from the London School of Economics. Yemi Osinbajo Childhood Story Plus Untold Biography Facts: Rise To Fame 1981 was the year which Yemi gained employment as Junior Lecturer at the University of Lagos. Progressing through the ranks of lecturing which became his primary career, Yemi had other law pursuits and non-legal businesses at the sidelines of academic vocation. They include his services as Member of Cabinet, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Lagos State Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State Attorney General, among a few other endeavours. While it is still unclear of when Yemi made his foray in politics, it is worthwhile to note that he had long been an informal student of politics, learning at the feet of political leader, Bola Tinubu. Yemi’s loyalty and commitment to the political school of Bola Tinubu made him become a part of notable Nigerian who in 2013, designed the manifesto for the then Nigerian opposition party known as All Progressive Congress APC. Months later, Yemi was a made running mate to the party’s presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari in 2014. The duo made in history in 2015 by defeating the incumbent government of Goodluck Jonathan to win the 2015 elections. It wasn’t long before Osinbajo was sworn in as vice president of Nigeria alongside his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari. The rest, as they say, is history. Asgard13: The main purpose of IPOB’s campaign of misinformation is to confuse many Igbos with contradictory lies that will be repeated here and there until Igbos do not know what the truth is. For years, Igbos have allowed IPOB to spread lies that have poisoned the trust between us and the rest of the ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. The cutting words of IPOB is worse than a bowstring. While a cut may heal, the cut of the tongue does not. Ultimately, what IPOB has succeeded in doing is stir up hatred between Igbos and the rest of Nigerians. So, I stand bold to state that IPOB is a disease; the lies and venom that they are vomiting through Nnamdi Kanu do not have to make sense to be successful as a disease. Churchill Okonkwo, Ph.D. |
