The convening of the National Executive Council (The Supreme Organ) of the ruling APC with the absence of the self-styled "National Leader" Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu due to him holding no substantive office of relevance in the party has been illuminating.

In short, Mr. Tinubu has been revealed as the Emperor without clothes. Naked! A General without command.

One cannot overplay the importance of the NEC in the affairs of the ruling party. It's decisions are sacrosanct. It overrides any other. It supersedes everything else. It is the Supreme Council. And the so called Jagaban can find no attendance ticket?

Whatever the outcome of this meeting, and expect the usual noise as to respect for "our national leader" and "we're united", Mr. Tinubu will emerge as a drastically diminished actor on the Nigerian landscape.

Nationally Mr. Tinubu is finished as an influencer of anything. The real consequence of this will witness strong and intense challenges to his power in the South West by a restive Yoruba Nation who increasingly can envisage a bright future for themselves outside a failed unitary state of Nigeria.
