To prosper means to succeed in an enterprise or activity. It can also be considered when someone is financially and materially successful, flourish physically, grow strong and healthy. These are the purpose of God for every man on earth. A prospered person enjoys life to the fullest and it can be evidenced in his or her blissful lifestyle of riches, abundance and good living. When you prosper in life endeavors through godly means, you will live a fulfilled life and the blessing of the Lord will be evidenced to the whole world.

What are the ways to prosper in life?
First way to prosper in life is by seeking the Kingdom of God and its righteousness.
This entails making God and his Kingdom the priority in scale of preference.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

This quoted verse asserts that the only way to prosper in all things is by seeking, worshipping, serving and living a godly lifestyle. Prosperity belongs to God and only Him can prosper the works of your hands. You don’t have to look outside God for prosperity, don’t envy the wicked and godless that prosper in their wicked ways, but look unto God alone.

Proverbs 10: 22
The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.

When God blesses you, prosperity will follow with happiness and joy overflow that no man can give unto you. All you need to attract prosperity of God is by being in the presence of God, worshipping him in truth and spirit. Encourage yourself in the Lord, have zeal for Him and be planted in his house, then you shall prosper, flourish and blossom.

Psalm 92: 13 – 14
Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.

Second way to prosper is by accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.
The mission of our Lord Jesus Christ is to save the whole world from sin, Satan and death. And, He is the only way to have prosperity and success in life endeavors.

John 14:16
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”.

Jesus Christ is the only way to God that gives prosperity and without Jesus Christ, there is no other way to the Father. There are many ways to false prosperity introduced by the Satan, the deceiver and whosoever follows his way will lead to destruction. The only truth is Jesus Christ because everything about Him is true, there’s no lie in him. But, Satan is a thief, a liar and there is no truth in him, he will give one thing to obtain more than enough from his victim. But, Jesus Christ is a giver of abundant life of prosperity.
All you need is to accept the lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ to know the way, truth and have prosper life.

John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.

Third way to prosper is by utilizing the potential in you.

God has given everyman potential to prosper in life if you utilize it very well. If someone has potential, he or she has the abilities and qualities to become successful in every area of life endeavors. The potential God has given to everyman should be utilized to provide, help, assist, promote, encourage, establish, manufacture and invent things in life. Even, if you are very talented, skillfully, experienced, educated and intelligent, you still need potential to be successful and prosper in life endeavors. The only way to utilize this potential to prosper is by having Jesus Christ in your life. Jesus Christ will aid, assist, support and strengthen you to do all things successfully.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The Spirit and Power of Jesus Christ is all you need to quicken your mortal body and boost your potential for prosperity.

Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

The verse is not about by seeking, worshipping, serving and living a godly lifestyle as you assert. It is a command to seek, and find the Kingdom of God and God's righteousness. What does one expect to find when one seeks to find the Kingdom of God? What does God's righteousness mean?
How does obeying the commandment to "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness...." Make one prosperous?

There is a message in the context of that commandment that you glossed over with "Prosperity gospel" there...

34. So don’t worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Tomorrow will have its own worries.
