COVID-19: UTA gives 250 Market Women in Southeast palliatives

No fewer than 250 women in the Southeast geopolitical zone have been empowered by the United Traders Association since the advent of COVID-19 pandemic .

These included widows, cordinators , women leaders of markets and less previlaged members of the association.

The association said in the next two months it would be visiting destitute and motherless babies' homes in a bid to fighting hunger amongst them.

The President and Founder of UTA, a nongovernmental organization,Mrs Nkiru Duru disclosed this at the Thanksgiving Mass at Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Church, Umudioka in the Dunikofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

She said"We have so far empowered over 250 members including widows since the lockdown in the south East geopolitical zone .


"By next month we shall be reaching out to the destitute homes at least one per market in the south East.

She said the aims and objectives of the association included to enhance the welfare of members, ensure the relevance of market women in society as well as reducing stress in business life through its social activities .

Also speaking the spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry Ukeh, Rev . Father Emmanuel Obimma (Ebube muonso) challenged the Association to use the organization to fetch souls for God.

Father Obimma who is also Spiritual Director of the Association urged the women to emulate Christ by living in unity and tolerance as well as being steadfast in their prayer life" .

The cleric said, Prayer is the key to success, Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer, so let emulate the life of Jesus Christ that is the life of prayer.

"Also Unity and peace are very important.
Wherever there is peace, the glory of God abounds. As your spiritual director, I am charging you to embrace love .Anything built on love must surely last," Ebube muonso added.
