Kalu Backs Ngwa To Produce Abia Gov by Abagworo(m): 3:15am On Feb 01, 2011
Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has pledged to support the aspiration of the Ngwa people to produce the next governor of the state. The former governor described their aspiration as a just and fair one. Speaking at his Abuja residence when a delegation of Ngwa people from across the federation visited him, Kalu said the choice of the former deputy governor of the state, Chief Chris Akomas, who is an Ngwa son, as the flag bearer of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in the forthcoming governorship election presented a great opportunity for the people to realized their dream.

Kalu, who is the chairman of the PPA Board of Trustees (BoT), said it was the responsibility of the people to do their homework and ensure the dream did not die now that they had the opportunity to pursue it on the platform of a party that had strong membership base in the state.

Reminding them of the need to reach out to other parts of the state, including Old Bende, he said no zone of the state was superior or inferior to the others, adding that right thinking people of the state were sympathetic to the cause of Ngwa people.
Stressing the need for mobilizing the people for that purpose, Kalu noted that democracy “is a game of number,” pointing out that those who have numerical advantage would always triumph.

“It is left for you to stand up and insist that the time for you to produce the governor is now,” he said, adding that the PPA primaries that produced Akomas was not only transparent, free and fair, but also devoid of any rancour.
He said the emergence of Akomas in such a contest was indicative of how favourably disposed the people of the state were to having an Ngwa person as the governor of the state after the next general elections.

Also speaking, National Chairman of the PPA, Dr. Sam Nkire, also from Ngwaland, said; “the best time of the zone to produce the state governor is now,” adding that the PPA was their best bet because of its widespread structures in the state.
“The structures are there, bigger than that of the PDP; all that should be done is to reactivate them,” Nkire stated, adding that even the incumbent governor knows the strength of the PPA, hence he is afraid of the candidacy of Akomas.

He urged the delegation to be part of the effort to ensure that their people registered for the polls.
Ealier, spokesman for the delegation, Mr. Chidi Okoro, said the group was in Kalu’s home to thank him for fulfilling his earlier promise to support the emergence of an Ngwa person as the governorship candidate of the party and also to solicit for his support for Akomas
Okoro appealed to Ngwa people, irrespective of their political affiliation, to support the ambition of Akomas to be the next governor of the state, saying it was their most realistic route towards producing the governor of Abia State.

“Our brothers from Old Bande have agreed that it is our turn, they have given us their support; it is now left for our people to put their house in order. The quest of Governor Theodore Orji for a second term is against the Abia Charter of Equity. It is deceptive,” Okoro said.

We are all Igbos so why should it matter if the governor is Ngwa, Aro, Bende, Abiriba, Abam, Umuahia, Isiukwuato, etc?

SMDH!!!!! I have no idea where Gov. Peter Obi is from in Anambra state. As long as he is performing, who CARES?

We all know Abia is one of the most clannish states in Igboland. Clan identity is strong in Abia. I think it is stronger in this state than any other state in Igboland.

All the clans you have mentioned are known far and wide throughout Igboland.

Imo is better than Abia because our zoning is not based on clan but on Senatorial zones which are just 3.Ebonyi also has Abia's Clannish competition.

Whoever is best thought by the people to serve Abia best, then that is who will win. We Igbos don't let someone rule just 'cause. . . . It is not in our nature. We always want a piece in on the action. May the best man/woman win.

Gbam!

Ngwa candidates have to earn that position. It will not be given to them freely.

Kobojunkie.,
I dont know why this is so funny to you but anyways lets move on. No I have never lived in Abia. I only visited. I am a native of Abia via Arochukwu tho my own family migrated to Ajali in Anambra state but we still have relatives there.

It should not matter but like Asha80 said maybe they should hand it to them so they can show us what they got once and for all and shut up. At the same time I am not in support of that coz next thing Arochukwu will come up with its own. Even villages will soon start demanding the same thing. You will see one tiny village turn into a clan over night like ikwerre once turned into an ethnic group over night.

I think Southern Igbos are overly clannish. I find that very backward. In Anambra who gives a damn about your town or clan?

Enugu is also like Anambra. Gov Sullivan Chime is performing well and that is all that matters. I DONT know where the guy hails from.

Abia is not going to change overnight. The political kingpins are not going to simply disappear. Until Abians decide for change, the mob is going to continuing running that state.

Yes this is good news. This translates to equity, fairplay and justice. God bless Orji Kalu for supporting the most marginalized people of that state.

Ngwa governor ke? Now i know that Orji has been smoking shroom! can you just imagine? Ngwa pple dont even hold any reasonable position in their homeland, Aba, whereas they expect to hold the biggest and most prestigious position in the state.

Goodluck to them in their race for failure.

Excuse me bro, when we talk Nigerian politics, we keep sentiments and The-proper-way-it-should-be aside, ok?
FYI, i reside in Aba, and i can say i know and have seen it all. Ngwa pple do not even hold any, and i repeat, any leadership position in Aba, because of the obvious, so therefore, we Abians do not even reckon with them when it comes to leadership in the state.

i know this is not rightfully speaking and my words would be faulted in a civilized country, but this is Nigeria and that is the way the cookie crumbles.

Well I guess in reference to your ignorant statement we can say Igbos are irrelevant in Naija politics and we should accept our positions and shut the fuuuuuck up when real politicians are talking? I now see and understand why the Yorubas and other Ethnic groups laugh and make fun of Ndigbo.

With a name like pornodude I can conclude that all you are good for is to masturbaate to cheap poorno movies all day long.  Who gives a bleep who Kalu Orji supports?  Yes, Ngwa people  are not fore front in politics in Abia but what about yourself?  Yes, I stand by what I earlier posted so if you don't like it YOU CAN CUT OF YOUR DIICK AND STICK IT UP WHERE THE SUN DOES NOT SHINE, bleeping INBREED.
