Dear Nairalanders, about two weeks ago I started experiencing fever, headache and loss of smell. The latter symptom got me really worked up because of the similarities with covid-19. Now being curious I asked my friend who is a doctor but doesn't practice and he told me it may have been covid. I bought a strong antimalarial drug, took it and within days I regained my sense of smell and became better.

I decided to find out more. I interviewed about 30 people who had malaria within last 2 months and THEY ALL said they lost their sense of smell. One had to purposely walk past a refuse dump just to smell something, yet nothing. They all treated it as malaria and got better. Who else experienced this curious symptom and what actions did you take?

Bro I think it is corona virus cos my brother had it for like 3 weeks surprisingly It started with me last week
I was eating bread when I discovered I couldn't taste the bread I even lick toothpaste I did not feel any taste
Went to the bathroom to smell izal and I couldn't smell a thing
What I noticed is that if I try to force myself to perceive the smell I start feeling pain in my nose
Thank God I recovered after taking folic acid, vitamin b, vitamin e and c with ginger in my pap every morning
Had to use everything combined cos I was kinda afraid
Now my taste and smell is back though the smell is not that sharp but the taste is back
