Covid-19: FG Distributes Palliatives To PWD In Kwari Area Council

The Federal Government has distributed palliative materials and Condiments to over 540 people living with disability in Kwari area council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to cushion the effects of Covid-19 Pandemic.

The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq ably represented by SA special needs of humanitarian, Hon Dajuma Attah said that president Muhammadu Buhari has assured Persons Living with Disabilities that they will not be left out in the Federal Government ‘s intervention programmes aimed at cushioning the effect of Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister who gave the assurance during the distribution of palliatives to the Persons Living with Disabilities in Kwari area council, Abuja said the exercise was crucial as the welfare and concern of PWDs in Nigeria cannot be over-emphasised. "The Buhari-led administration has placed priority on assisting PWDs by coming up with policies and programmes which when executed by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development will ensure inclusion and improve the wellbeing of all PWDs in the country,” she said.

Farouq reiterated Federal Government’s commitment towards enhancing the living conditions of all Nigerians especially the vulnerable in the society while urging them to take advantage of the N-power program.

In response, the Representative of Kwari Area Council Chairman, the Council Secretary, Hon Bako Iya Pai commended President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for his commitment and dedication towards the plight of PWDs and other vulnerable groups in Nigeria.

He said, "this is a welcome development and is not surprising to us because the APC administration have been living by example, it is a good gesture in the right direction to make the people living with disability to feel belong".

He charged the Beneficiaries to see this as an opportunity for them to feel belong knowing that the government has not forgotten them.

Also Speaking, the Leader of Kwari Physically Challenge, Juliana Wodi appreciated the federal government for the development, adding that this is a joyous day to have seen the Government live up to their expectations knowing that we have not been forgotten.
