I just learnt that we borrowed akpalata, that it is not traditionally our food. There is a mixed opinion about that ukpo, some agree it is our (Agbaja) food, and some feel it was borrowed. Akpalata is the one that is definitely out. Please can anyone tell me/describe what offor is? |

merahki: I believe ukpo is offor. I don’t know Agbaja, but this is the offor I know. 1 Like

pocohantas:Soon some will come and say this seed is native to their village and that their village only has autonomy over the soups prepared with this seed. For their information, this seed (tree) could found at almost everyone’s back yard in Calabar. They equally make good soups with it. |

pocohantas: So you didn't shred the leaves at all? I never knew it was this easy and straightforward to make. I'll certainly be cooking it once I get my hands on the ingredients. |

merahki: There is this ugu soup they cook with very little okra. It is not okra because the ugu is more, like 8:2. It is cooked plain and you have to add fresh palm oil each time you eat it. Best served in clay pot/plate. Amudimkpa, is this what you meant? |

pocohantas:Before Anambra people would come and claim it as their soup without even having an outa of knowledge about what other people cook, the name of this soup you mentioned is Otong in Calabar but they cook it with palm oil. |

pocohantas: Thank you. Interestingly, the reverse ratio is my ideal for okro soup. I would add way more okro than ugu. Maybe even 9 parts okro and a part of ugu. It must also have ogbono. I also add ugu after I turn off the heat. I should say sprinkle , I do very little ugu. My pepper would set you on fire I guess. Lol. The Am guy should come and verify the above. Cheers. |

Genea: I can’t imagine that thing in my abacha. It will take some self-control not to harm whoever gave it to me. merahki: Yea, that is how I cook okro too. Thought I use uziza more these days. Can’t remember the last time I cooked with ugu. Lol @pepper. I love spicy food. E no fit pass the one wey Yoruba people dey cook and I dey chop their food steady. You’re welcome, sis. 1 Like 1 Share |

Mariangeles: What legacy are you ladies who are supposedly noble, and role models to younger ladies creating for your selves here on NL? This is so Sad. Most of y'all are so superficial, you are only making yourselves very infamous here on NL. You fail to see the bigger picture of life. You wld not suspect in the least that what u do here matters a lot, and a lot of people who know you and might run into you in the days to come are watching. It's appaling that many people on earth in this day and age don't care about their behaviours or the consequences of what they think, say and do. It's the most dangerous kind life for anyone to be living. It's an astronomical disaster waiting to befall and overtake any human soul. This goes to everyone, especially ladies, cos they are more special in many ways, that is why I address y'all. If some of you ladies learn to be less reactive, and more reflective to most of all the negative impressions that you perceive here, If we all use NL as a tool to see how terribly we react to things with anger, venom, pride, etc... This should tell us something about ourselves, we need to fix. And if we do, we have a better and more peaceful life, we have better relationships with freinds and loved ones. We all need to reflect Sisters and brothers.. |

@karli4nia, what do you have to say about the behavior of those guys? Would you not be triggered if those dirty words were said about your people by the people you thought you were on the same side with? To be honest, this thread really opened my eyes to reality, even though it made me sick to my stomach. It also made me realize I could never be safe among them. It was so disturbing, I even had to tell one of my brothers most of the things that those guys wrote about the rest of ndi Igbo , and the truth is, they were saying what most people already know. 3 Likes |
