This is not an African thing my brother. I can confidently say that this cannot happen in any Yoruba community. Any, so-called, elder that try such would be disgraced.

This is not a tribal comment; it is what I am very sure of. The Yoruba community might even organize free services like asking their women to help weep the hospital, give free farm produce to staff, doctors among other things.

dont make this a tribal thing, what of the oyo state rep that wanted to install a transformer for a community and the youths there demanded for settlement, the man jejely told d contractors to go and give another community in same constituency.

that story made Front page then. Leave! some Nigerians have serious backward mentality issues.

Ospac Ends at Choba They rarely come into Aluu.

Is it not Rivers State?

Where indigenes will stop contractors assigned to fix their bad road because of compensation.

If the contractor eventually leaves site due to pressure and violence, they still run back to Government crying foul.

You here them saying "Fix our Road, it is Eli Ndam".

Same "Eli Ndam" that was approved for construction but you chased the contractor away because of compensation.

Entitlement mentality has ruined the average Rivers Man.

All these nonsense is happening because of the man at the helm in the state.

They couldn't do 'Eli Ndam' under Amaechi.

What do you expect from a people who are being governed by a 'thug'?

How could anyone or group of individuals possibly halt the execution of a 'common good' government approved project and succeed, if the government isn't being irresponsible?

Ikwerre people and thier madness for money.. That's they they are backward. They travel outside thier state to learn from others. That's they their Governor insult their kings in public.

Same thing happen to oyedepo when he want to do thier road lead to his church. They ask for 200m. Now the church has moved to other place and government has even abandoned them.

Rumusi people collect millions of Naira from Nepa before they install their Fielder that lead to Teaching hospital, they still want same NEPA to give them free light

I don't like your unnecessary attack. How many Ikwerres have you met or you judge based on your few experiences. Aluu is just one town among hundreds

The other day I saw Ijaw people carrying cardboard that Shell wants to leave for Lagos, I just laughed at the gullible people. How would you frustrate companies and still want them to remain whereas nobody disturbs them in Lagos? Of course, they will move to where their business will evolve.

It is true, my bro; the thugs in Rivers State are emboldened by the leader of the State. Amaechi ended all of their activities in his time, but this guy brought them back and he is empowering them!

So if it costs N10000 to execute a church project, and the chruch has 500 members who can only afford N10 each because they are poor, where does the shortfall come from? Poor people that cannot feed themselves, is it church project they will afford to fund?

I don't blame you.

I blame all those poor people who were busy contributing their labor and time carrying basins of sand and cement when they were building Covenant University.

And those who gave their last card and trekked home to go and soak garri.

At least, I know of a neighbor who earned 20k from her cleaning job. The foolish woman cut her salary into two and was giving one half as her own Covenant contribution. Her husband too was always going to the site to carry block.

That foolish man almost fought me when I told him that he was laboring in vain. "Na our university" was their slogan then. I told him, "Na Oyedepo university".

Foolish people!!!

things like this happen in Lagos, the MD overseeing the construction of dan:gote refinery and fertilizer plant was killed some years over issues similar to this.

The M.D of Lekki FTZ was killed by the community protesting the forceful acquisition of their land by the government. Lagos has a hidden trend of forceful government acquisition of large tracts of land.

It was this kind of lazy entitlement mentality that almost drove pepfar from Nigeria. How can they provide free drugs to patients, yet our Nigerian hospital will still charge them?

Where I stay in port Harcourt, obio akpor this is the reason why a community that has opened up since the 90's have never seen one single grader, the next community has developed, the community opposite has developed, community before it that one is a whole different ball game of development but ours is stagnant.

Bad roads have made it so worse that if it rains fences fall. Businesses have left the area, just petty shops littered all over, no reasonable hotel unemployment want kill the community youths, walk every two meters u must see smbodi telling u boss show me love nah.

What caused it, a man in govt during Chibuike Amaechis time that wasn't from the community or the LG tried to use his personal connections to help these people to fix their road, the moment the engineers came community youths and chief came out, told this man that he must settle community #15million, then buy goat and drink for their chief.

This man jejely waka leave them like that, since 2005 till now things got from worse to worstest.

Those people are cursed! How wicked and shallow can people be to themselves? Which is why before one helps someone or some people, due diligence must be conducted so that idiats won't be helped.

You have to look beyond this to understand, everywhere you turn there is one abnormal thing or another, police extorting people they are supposed to protect, brothers killing themselves for money, land, women or religion, politicians looting like theres nothing at stake, forget yoruba, igbo, fulani nonsense and ask yourself why we so hate each other.

I understand you and I hardly do "tribal commenting" unless pointing things out.

I have known for a long time that tribal and religion matters are some of the divisive tools used by some people. I don't do tribe and I definitely don't do religion (again)

Entitlement mentality is a thing that ravages all of Nigeria , irregardless of tribe or religion.
It seems I am kinda of agreeing with the context of Nigeria youth are lazy.
We have Omo onile in Lagos , who aren't literally land owners as the name implies , but must get there share of land tax from land owners.
We keep lamenting lack of investors in our environment, but whenever any investors comes around , we will try to extort them.

A man in my locality had to stop building a bridge in my area, when so called area boys wanted to milk him dry.
How will a nation grow , when some set of lazy riff raff are always entitled to some commission when social programs are enacted.
You are on point brother. This Omo onile is almost every community in Nigeria esp the western and southern Nigeria. Any major project, decking house roofing etc you will see these boys. Making demands. Naija SMH....

This is one of the biggest problems we are having in the southern part of Nigeria from west to east down to south south,....... If this man apply for just half plot in northern part of Nigeria I can bet it they will give him hecters of land free of charge without any useless demand from the communities but come down to south those useless elders and lazy ass so call youths in south will start gluten over something somebody want to give them for free
Exactly!
