Since the border closure has local rice demand met? Has the price of local rice been favourable to a common man?
Is foreign rice still in our local market? Has security improved? What of government revenue? Have local rice production created enough employment opportunities? Above all has government justified the border closure in the last one year?

But why is Buhari crippling our business?

Everybody knows we are the only importer and exporter, but Buhari and his jihadist want to bring us down because we voted athifku. undecided

But okike alakulikili is always by our side.

Ohamadick lamidi cownu is by our side.

All these yoruba thieves and smuggling. All yoruba towns around the borders are known for their smuggling and criminals activities, little wonder Buhari shut down the yoruba borders and left open the northern boarders.

Kudos to the Nigerian customs.

Very sad...whenever I hear someone elsewhere sigh, life is hard! I'm tempted to ask if such person knows how rough it is in Naija. Life expectancy in Naija is so short cos so many things are terribly wrong. My sympathy is to the victims, and I hope they get well soon

Thank God the shootout didn't lead to a tragic ending and both youngsters survived. It is not every one that survives such event.

There was no shootout only ill trained custom officers claiming to be shooting at unruly people. I suspect customs wanted to cart away the loot.

When one hears customs narration of events one is tempted to believe. Unfortunately it is not so. Over the years smuggling has thrived successfully because of the collaboration of customs officers and other security agencies at the borders. The borders are porous not just because of the landmass or inadequate personel but because our security people want it so. Smuggling enriches them and they cannot stop.

The reports of fighting between them and smugglers only arises on one or two occassions when some smugglers refuse to either properly settle or move according to their unwritten agreements with our border patrol.

How is it that our borders have been closed since august last year and we still have petrol and rice been smuggled across the borders?

Truly this country needs strong leadership to become the great country that it should be.
