It was with shock that the world received the news on the night of 14th April 2014 that 276 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State. Some of the girls were later released, some were rescued by the Nigerian Army while a couple escaped from hostage.

Amina Ali, one of the missing girls who was found after a successful escape in May 2016, claimed that the remaining girls were still there, but that six had died. Joy Bishara and Lydia Pogu, two of the rescued girls did not only stay alive but they made it to the United States on a Federal Government-sponsored scholarship scheme. They ended up graduating from the Canyonville Christian Academy in Oregon. They were hosted at the White House in July 2017 by the United States First family.

Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the United States president said, "Honored to have welcomed Joy and Lydia, two incredible young women from Chibok, Nigeria to the White House last week. They shared with me their remarkable journey in overcoming tremendous adversity, and I am in awe of their courage and heart. I look forward to watching them flourish as they begin a new chapter at Southeastern University this fall. Joy and Lydia, I am so proud of you both! Thank you for inspiring us with your story.''

REFLECTION
When the times are good, always remember some are going through hard times for the same reasons that brought you good fortunes. In simple terms, it is important to always be gracious; whether good or bad. Joy and Lydia’s moments of terror would end up in praises. If they were told that the terror that took place that night would open a magic door to the white house, they would have classified it as a pipe dream. Life is not fair, they say. Remember, it was the same child kidnap that took the life of some, that equally paved the way for some to attain a foreign scholarship, and visit a place that not all the presidents of nations have the good fortune to visit.

A journey that took lives, quashed dreams, and engraved sorrow in the hearts of some, has given Joy and Lydia a second chance in life. Whatever you are going through today could end in glory.
The happiest people do not bother about what course they are served by life; they just get on with it. We can only get used to the fact that life is not fair. The rain showers for everyone, but it serves different strokes to different folks at a point in time.

Always have the hope and conviction that your pain points would end up into happy moments as it happened for Joy and Lydia. Lastly, our hearts remain with the family of the other girls yet to be recovered or released.
