Sterilisation is the killing of all microbes in a material or substance. the word all is key. no single microorganism is left behind in the sterilisation process. Pasteurisation on the other hand is the application of heat to a food substance usually at a temperature below its boiling point for some minutes. Most canned food are pasteurised before canning. The pasteurisation process was developed by Louis Pasteur. Louis Pasteur was a French chemist but have done copious microbiology and biology researches. |
