President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday approved the immediate suspension of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Fiancial Crmes Commisson, Ibrahim Magu.

The president also approved the appointment of Mohammed Umar as acting chairman pending the completion of the ongoing investigation of the allegation against Ibrahim Magu.

This is contained in a state statement issued by the media aide to the Minister of Justice.

But how much do you know about the new acting EFCC chairman?

• Until his appointment, Mohammed Umar served as the director of operations of the EFCC.

. He is the fifth official to lead the commission.

. Mr Umar is also a deputy commissioner of Police.

Mohammed Umar is the second most senior official at the agency and he is also a devoted Muslim.

Why must it be led by police or any other agency ?

Someone that has been in the system for long will know the pros and cons which will make him/her perform excellently

Unless we repeal the Section 2 of the EFCC Act 2005, we can do nothing about it.

The Chairman must have 15+ years of experience as a security operative in a government security or law enforcement agency (retired or serving), not less than the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police or its equivalent.

We should meet him to do what with him when we are not part of the political economic hawks. Interestingly I saw no citation nor CV there, so how do we evaluate his competence? Make una leave us with Abokii matter abeg.
