Artificial Insemination: it is the method of introducing the sperm of a boar (male pig) through the vagina of the female animal for the purpose of achieving pregnancy without mating between the animals.
It is not important here is Nigeria because it’s cost expensive and moreover if you have sexually active male animals, you don’t need it.

BARROW: A male pig castrated before reaching sexual maturity. You don’t need excess sexually active male pigs in your farm. You either sell them at birth or castrate them if you intend to keep them. Castration is very important because the pig will feed less and grow more, also the masculine characteristics will be gone and they won’t always cry for mating. They are also easier to control and handle once castrated.

BOAR: A male pig with intact testicle. We can also say that, a male pig that wasn’t castrated.

GILT: A young female pig that has never given birth. I.e the pig is still single.

SOW: A female pig that has farrowed (given birth) at least once. Once a female pig has given birth, it is referred to as a sow

CASTRATE: A male animal whose testicle has been removed.
