The Nigeria Police Force has disbanded all satellite offices and bases of the Intelligence Response Squad and Special Tactical Squad.

The disbandment was contained in a signal to the Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of IRT, Abba Kyari, and Yusuf Kolo for STS.

Kyari and Kolo are to ensure that all bases and offices outside Abuja were shut with immediate effect.

The disbanded officers were ordered to submit all firearms in their possession to central armoury, all suspects in their custody transferred to the state command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad while cases already charged to court but investigation not concluded be moved to State Criminal investigation Departments.

Commissioners of Police were also directed to monitor strict compliance of the directive.

However, there are fears that the directive could afford bandits and other criminal gangs the leeway to unleash terror on defenceless citizens.

The Work Of IRT And RRS Are Allmost The Same, So Creating More Of This Arm Men Is Sometimes Good Because They Keep Some Bad Guys Away From Political Fathers And Sometimes Bad Becaused No One Will Mooitor Their Activitise When Political Want To Use Them In Another Asignments,
So Scrapping Them Is Both Good And Bad.

I guess Magu case is the reason. What about all their recovered loot? It was once reported that siezed properties the IRT were collecting the rent.

The police boss needs to do serious house cleaning before what is happening in EFCC takes place too or should I say is stopped

Disbanding a special squad in this period that crime rate is high is worrisome..what's the reason for disbanding them?
Are they no longer intelligent and tactical again?

Biko stop but at least someone is doing some cleaning up, that is why institutions should be allowed to work so they can checkmate themselves but right now i think it is the Presidency calling the shots, I can't wait to see NIA report on MAGU shebi e sabi disgrace their boss.

The IGP-IRT has always been an effective formation, but in recent time, there have been cases of overbearing attitude from the officers acting without accord from Abuja.

I wonder what triggered this decision.

The reason for the disbandment isn't stated..... well, this is security agency.... so I don't expect them to disclose that. Those ones will rest small at least.
