Not 100% intentional. It was a long considered decision and circumstances sort of demanded it..the breeds are similar..(mollossers) and the pitbull is part of the ancestry of the boerboel..this is what the grown mix should look like.

Its a one off anyway.

They are both human friendly and obedient.. It's the game drive was towards other dogs and animals that is high in the dam. Ironically it's the pitbull that will mellow this trait from the boerboel in the pups.

With good socialisation esp. towards animals and other dogs.. They will have solid Temperament. Of course we all know that large and powerful breeds as these must be raised to know who is in charge.

I read your diary of Trixie today and I loved it!!!!

Sorry for derailing a bit but is it normal for a dog not to allow its owner touch its newborn pups, that was what I faced with my dog last year August, please what can I do to control the situation next time. I am asking you this because I saw your posts on Ishilove's thread. You sounded like a real dogman

Over normal. The bitch will relax after a few days when she gets tired of nipples getting poked with tiny sharp claws.

but I have seen videos of people even helping to pull out of the birth canal and guiding them to go suckle. the issue is that my dog was growling at me and was not breast feeding the pups at all. After everything, the puppies died and after the puppies died, the next morning my dog was wagging tail for me, you can imagine

Its all about the temperament. If your dog is the type that growls at you when eating or try to take its food it will probably not allow touching of brand new pups.

Even in my case i was apprehensive and not sure if she will not allow..however upon birth of the first pup outside i called her in and brought the pup in with her so i knew she was ok with me touching them. Even now at two days if i touch any she follows my movement with her nose so i am still careful.

In my younger days i had an alstian mix that would give bloodcurdling growls if you came near her and her litter.

If shes like that dont worry after some time as the pups become less fragile she will allow you to touch them. If you really need to touch them, you can lure her away with food or water then lock her there and quickly do what u want to do with the pups before you release her

Trixie is a really good mum and a great dog (towards her owner) too. The pups are just enjoying suck brestand sleep..22 hrs sleep a day no be play oo
