The Nigerian senate has urged President Buhari to direct the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity to set up a Committee to review the age limit for job seekers.

The decision taken by the upper chamber to ensure that competent applicants are employed by the ministries, departments and agencies of government, stemmed from the motion sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Gobir.

Gobir said;

"Age barriers inadvertently excludes and marginalises skillful and competent prospective applicants from participating in such exercises”.

"Due to the high unemployment rate in the country, many graduates spend up to 10 years seeking employment and this puts them in a disadvantaged position by no fault of their own.

“Many individuals resort to falsifying their age all in a bid to fall within the required age limit for them to be gainfully employed.

I know someone who has passion for Police job, he just finished serving the Country(NYSC) he is 27 but age limit for Police recruitment has announced by NPF is 17 to 25.

NPF will enlist people who don't have passion for the job but fall within the required age range and leave out those who are passionate about the job just because their age is above the required age.
Now tell me how are we not going to have rogues in the Force when u leave out those with passion for the job and choose those that are just looking for what to do to survive because of age.
