Hello fellow NL, thank God it's Friday. Happy weekend to everyone.
I grew up in a family where my dad is seem to be *STINGY*, he finds it difficult to render financial assistance to us his children, except providing the the necessary feeding in the house. He sales bicycle spare parts and I happened to be the closest of all of the children. I removed few spare parts which I sold to some customers unknown to him, just to assist my self . In 2009,he sent me to the city to learn a trade where I lived with my boss , which to me seem to be near hell since I hardly feed.
To cut the story short, the few goods I removed from His goods were what helped me each time I'm at home, I sell them within #500 to #1000 to help assist me in feeding and other minor expenses as an apprentice. Until I completed the work and left my boss in 2011, few goods (of not more than #3000) were left in my room . Just yesterday, my little nephew who had no knowledge of the goods was cleaning up the room and saw the goods and sent them to my dad.
I don't know how to defend myself, because one of my brother told me he reported to him that I stole his goods. The age long relationship and reputation I've built with him is about to end .
How do I explain the source of the goods, what will I tell him because he is waiting for me to come home and explain the owner of the goods found in my room

let me get this straight. A spare part you stole from your dad in 2011 was found in your room by your nephew in 2020? I don't see how this is a problem. Its been more than 8 years, you guys should move on.

For God's sake, if your father was having a good relationship with you, tell him the truth that you are starving and uses it to buy food to it

Stop being afraid of him rather respect him

Tell him how you feel bad going hungry while he is alive

If you continue to fear your father, you will be too weak to handle a woman

if you really value your relationship with your dad better tell him the truth. he maybe disappointed but he'll come around. honesty is the best policy

I truly value my relationship with him and I don't want anything to erode the trust he has for me, that's why I decided to bring this issue here for the purposes of receiving advice

Not that I don't clean the house, the said goods are in a bag and I locked the bag . The little boy wanted to know what is in the bag, so when the boy started cleaning up the room, he saw the bag locked, he attempted opening it that's why he sent it to my dad

You should be more concerned about your nephew who told on you. He should've spoken to you to inquire about the spare parts then mind his own business, not run to tell your Dad behind your back. That says a lot about him, so dissociate yourself from him and trust him less.

As for your Dad, simply tell him why you took them and apologize to him. A good father would provide for his kids in the first place or in a situation like this, would be sympathetic and forgiving towards you — considering his refusal to provide for you was what motivated your behavior in the first place.

Talking about my nephew, he's just 11 years and I think he didnt fully understand the consequences of his actions. He felt he should just show dad the bag he saw in uncles room .

But like I said earlier, my dad is too strict and he is the type that is is resentful . That's my challenge
