Harpazo (har-pad'-zo) is the Greek word which the New Testament translators have rendered as "caught up".

2 Corint 12:2 - "Caught up into the third Heaven"
2 Corint 12:4 - "Caught up into Paradise"
Rev 12:5 - "Caught up to the Throne of God"
1 Tess 4:17 - "Caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air"

This is where the word Rapture originates from, a translation of Greek to Latin.... Caught up! (Harpazo). It should not surprise even the newest searcher of Bible Prophecy, that even those who believe in a Rapture, have many and various positions as to the timing of the event, i.e., Pre-Tribulational Rapture, Mid-Tribulational Rapture, Pre-Wrath Rapture, Post-Tribulational Rapture, etc.

Meaning of Harpazo:-
According to an Evangelical Biblical Greek New Testament scholar of the mid-twentieth century, Kenneth Wuest. He says there are four different meanings connected to the word, "Harpazo":-

1) To Carry off by force, It can also mean to snatch out quickly. But why will the Lord return to carry the believers or the Church out of the world by force?
- Eph 2:2 - Satan is called the Prince of the Power of the Air, But Jesus will come back and snatch his people by such force that no spiritual power can form a veil to stop it. The sudden force will pierce the veil of demonic darkness and entities that are in the atmosphere.

2) To rescue from danger & destruction, Dan 12:1, Matt 24:21. This is one of the arguments for a Pre-tribulation Rapture, Rev 6:18, Matt 24:22
The Book of Revelations indicates that judgments, plagues, asteroids etc coming upon the Earth.

3) Divine Power transferring a person from one location to another, Examples of People who where translated from one location to another include:
a. Enoch - Gen 5:24.
b. Elijah - 2 Kings 2:1-12
c. Jesus - Acts 1:11
d. Philip - Acts 8: 39 -40

4) To claim for oneself eagerly, John 14:1-3, 1Tess 4:17-18.

The Lord is coming to claim his Bride (The Church)

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed" (1Corinthians 15:51-52).
