Check it anywhere you can, all developed countries from Japan to China to Australia to Canada, USA and even Germany they practice true federalism. True federalism is suitable for countries with multi ethnic groups such as Nigeria, and as such it must be adopted wholly into Nigeria. I know you may say that, federalism exists in Nigeria, but that's not true, what we practice here in Nigeria is de facto Unitary system where power emanates from a central source and is in the hand of a leader. This system if government is mostly suitable for homogeneous countries such as Britain and France and as such, it shouldn't be replicated in Nigeria.

True federalism entails devolution of power to State and local governments. Here States and semi-autonomous and control their state resources. True federalism also entails that the office of the president is merely ceremonial as shots will be called by the various state government. This will mean that when underperforming people are made presidents, it won't affect the people adversely.

It will also ensure that states grow at their own pace and perceived fear of domination or marginalisation in government.
Restructuring Nigeria to true federalism will ensure that no single president can hamper development in the country. It will also ensure that Government will be close to the people before. In Nigeria presently, grieving citizens need to travel to Abuja to protest which is far, but under a Restructured Nigeria, protesters will only need to go their State Government house to air their grievances.

We seriously need to restructure Nigeria to federalism so that power if we want quick and sustainable development.

Let's Restructure Nigeria Now.
