How Can I Get An Entry-level Job In The USA? by jonostocker(m): 7:28am On Jul 20, 2020
If you are someone who has completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in the USA, you have a good chance of getting an entry-level job, although it’s not that easy. But with little efforts, it is possible if you have good grades and knowledge of your subject, you are most likely to get one soon.

Entry-level jobs prove to be the most important career-making opportunity for one’s life. To get the experience, you need to have some experience is the rule of getting a good entry-level job. But this should not discourage you. Even if you are an international student in the USA, you can, too, get a good entry-level job by following a required procedure.

The most important thing to remember if you are planning to get a full-time entry-level job in the USA is that you will need to OPT. OPT is an optional training program, which is a twelve-month working period given to F1 visa holders who are graduate or undergraduate students or who have studied in the USA for more than twelve months. And if you wish to get an entry-level job in the USA, you need to apply for post-completion OPT 90 days before you finish your graduation and then start using for entry-level positions through various job portals.

But always remember, to get you an entry-level job, your grades or your OPT won’t be enough. You will have to do a lot than that.
Follow these steps as you start your search for an entry-level job.

Get an internship:

As I mentioned above, to get experience, you need to have experience. And so you must apply for short term internships that will give you an insight into what you will be doing once you get your entry-level job. A paid or unpaid internship should not matter at the beginning because you are doing it to add in your resume and gain the experience which will get you an excellent entry-level position. Employers are always searching for candidates having at least little experience for the job they are hiring for. So go, get an internship.

Talk to Recruiters:

Job recruiters have made getting a job much simpler than it was during the time of your parents and your grandparents. Recruiters get you a job depending on your talent, requirement, and location.
Attend career fairs:

A career fair also called a job fair is a place where employers and recruiters meet intending to hire employees. So you might end up getting an excellent career opportunity at the career fair.

Apply online:

There are various jobs available online, so do your research and apply for a position where the employers are not seeking one, two years of experience.

Following these tips, you can surely get yourself an entry-level position. But just having your graduation degree or post-completion won’t lend you the right entry level jobs, you need to stand out from the other applicants and ace your interview once you get a chance.

Trust yourself and never lose hope. There are chances you might not get a chance right away. Getting a job isn’t easy at all. Now that you are an international student, it will be more difficult for you. You will often face rejection, but that doesn’t mean you should stop applying for new jobs. You will get a job not as soon as you graduate but after a little while. So keep applying till you have your visa. With good grades, a perfect resume, and some experience, you will surely get one.
