If you consider making money online in Nigeria, starting a blogging business might just be a nice idea. One good thing about starting a blog in Nigeria is that you don’t need a huge capital to get started.

In this article, I will teach you a step-by-step approach on how to start a successful blog business in Nigeria, and how to also monetize your blog to start making money.

What Is a Blog?

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog, a blog is a discussion or informational website published on the world wide web that consists of discrete, often informal posts. Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page

Like most trends on the Internet, many people saw blogging as a marketing opportunity. Which was how blogging started. Not only can a blog be used for marketing, but also, a blog can be a source of generating passive income.

How to Set up Blog in 5 Easy Steps

1. Choose a name that is appropriate for your Niche.

One of the first things to consider when setting up a blog is choosing a name that suits the niche you intend to pursue. It is essential to choose a name that flows with the theme or topic of your blog.

Three things you should consider when choosing what to blog about;

 a. Blog about something you find interesting.

b. Choose a niche in which you can establish yourself as an authority.

 c. Blog about something with plenty of room for discussion. It could be a lifestyle blog, technology, anything unlimited scope.

2. Get a domain name and web host.

One of the most important parts of your blog is your domain name. It can also be known as your URL (uniform resource locator), your domain is your address on the web.

Always have it in mind that a brandable domain name is unique and helps you stand out from the competition, while generic domain names are usually stuffed with keywords and might be difficult to memorize.

Secondly, you need to get a web host for your blog. Without web hosting, you’ll not be able to make use of your domain name or set up your blog. A web host is a service provider that makes your blog accessible on the internet for everyone. It stores all the files, images, and content that your blog has and displays it to the visitors.

3. Choosing a blogging platform.

As a chef, you need a kitchen to cook. Hence, a blogger needs a blogging platform to blog. There are several blogging platforms out there to choose from. Blogger, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Weebly, and so on.

All these blogging platforms have their pros and cons, but WordPress is by far the most popular (with about 75million websites), and for good reason. It’s flexible, functional with free themes, plugins, and resources.
