PEN HYGIENE
Good hygiene promotes clean, comfortable environment for poultry. It means following procedures that eliminate diseases in the poultry house.

How to carry out Pen Cleaning
1. Clear the wastes, litter, debris and spider webs. Sweep thoroughly
2. Clean with detergent and water using brush. In large scale cleaning, use motorized sprayers
3. Clean floors, pillers wire mesh, rafers, inner roof surfaces within the pen, equipment – feeders, drinkers, water tanks, water lines, pipes, filters and pallets.
4. Disinfect with an appropriate disinfectant and allow for 24 hours to eliminate insects and parasites.
5. After cleaning fumigates the pen, covering the open sides with polyethylene curtains down. Allow the pen to rest for a minimum of 10 days before re-use or restocking.
