The African Giant Album is a year already!

July 26th, 2020, made it a year since Burna Boy’s 4th studio album “African Giant” was released by Spaceship Entertainment, Atlantic Records and Warner Music. The 19-track album which contributed largely to Burna Boy’s international success in 2019, also earned him his first Grammy nomination and has thus far garnered close to a Billion streams on all music platforms.

The Afro-fusion artiste himself made the announcement via his Instagram page:

AFRICAN GIANT IS 1 TODAY!! A few streams off a billion across all platforms. The journey has been crazyyyy! You’ve all become family and we’ve made history together! Sold out shows worldwide, awards and most importantly, the lives that have been impacted by the music! #AGIS1

Don’t get comfortable though, I’m coming back TWICE AS TALL! 

The African Giant Album One Year Later

The African Giant album is a mixture of Afrobeats, dancehall, pop, and hip hop. It was produced primarily by Kel P, along with production from Benjamin Zill, Dre Skull, and Skrillex, among others. The album features guest appearances from Jorja Smith, Jeremih, Damian Marley, and Future, amongst others.

The African Giant album was supported by eight singles, including “On the Low”, which won Viewers’ Choice at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, “Killin Dem”, which won Song of the Year at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.

Data from Africa facts Zone on Twitter confirms that "African Giant" is the most streamed African album ever with a little off a Billion Streams.

I remember vividly the slander and hate speech from Nigerians when this album was released. Burna always replies his haters with extreme success. He is not at his peak yet, but has distinguished himself as THE AFRICAN GIANT !
