Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, signed into law the revised 2020 Appropriation Bill.

The 2020 Budget was revised from N449.97bn to N280bn.

Abiodun, while performing the ceremony in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, after receiving it from the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, said his government would work within the budget, to ensure that the people get its benefits.

He said: “I want to appreciate our Lawmakers for expediting action on the Bill. The relationship between the legislature and the executive is exemplary. Issues relating to moving the State forward, are always given due and prompt attention.

The House has done the needful. They have done good work. We will do our best to ensure that we work within the budget by paying attention to those sectors that impact positively on our people.”

He noted that the review of the budget was due to the adverse effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the current realities, adding that the government would fix the inadequacy in the health sector, as exposed by the Coronavirus.

Speaking earlier, Speaker Oluomo, explained that relevant stakeholders were engaged in the course of amending the Bill.

He also expressed hope that it would re-engineer the socio-economy of the state.

Budgeting in Nigeria is a joke.

Every year, they come and give us bogus figures without mentioning what was done or achieved with the bogus amount they read the previous year.

What we are doing in this country is nowhere near nation building

It's the drive of billionaire status by our elite group. Now minimum wage for a month is a measly 80 cents in the US and it's terribly bad and we aren't seeing it from this angle.

I have thought of it too. There questions which need to be asked. Is Nigeria getting better? With increase in Budget from thousand to million, are there commemorate development to justify it? What exactly did they use the money for? Who and who were the projects given to? And many other questions. I am not happy with the so called leaders they are just siphoning our resources

Does he have one? grin grin

Funny enough, despite his dismal performance so far in office, he will be thinking about 2nd term already.

Dapo was never ready for governance, and when you surround yourself with the jackals he has around him, you are doomed to fail. He is so clueless and directionless to say the least.

Plus Covid-19 has given most of them a big excuse to be useless.

I pray he gets his act together ASAP, at least for the sake of the people.
