What is dumb about the question? She could have been asking for one or more of several possible reasons.

And yes in my opinion it does matter if he used Govt. money. I'm quite sure there are many people with serious health issues in Lagos. Why should one get free govt. money while others have to rely on pastor miracle? Should qualifying for govt help just be luck of the draw?

I still don't understand why some people always condemn other people's opinion

Very good,

But what is so wrong with Goddy setting up a kidney centre of excellene, bring some of those top doctors from India to work and train our doctors and nurses. This centre should be able to look after 500 in-patients and a thousand more out-paitients.

I bet you this is achievable with 50B naira (£200 million), same amout some have been accused of stealing.

We just havent got our priorities right.

I would even have favoured sure a plan that spending in excess of 100B Naira on a flawed useless voters register which in my opinion should have cost far less.

Good one Fashola.
But we need more than that. There are many people dying from various ailments. When will our government provide good hospitals to aid treatment of Cancer and other diseases? This is not only about Fashola but the Federal government and other state governors.

Fashola is the only human being in nigerian govt.
The rest are just animals with basic brain coding of:take.

lokya:

.what a dumb Question does it matter if he uses Govt money.
Actually, it does matter. Sorry, but I haven't the time right now to give a lecture on PRIVATE CHARITY and GOOD GOVERNANCE.

Anyway, on a human level, this good, especially if he was using his personal money.

You cannot watch AIT for 10 minutes nowadays without someone coming to the screen to beg for a couple of millions or so to go India for some surgery. So beyond the level of human compassion which Mr Fashola  has exhibited, we should cry for Nigeria, as our governments have reduced us to beggars who are constantly appealing to the public for money to fly to India. We should say "shame" to the likes of Fashola who are in a position to fix the health sector so that no has to fly to India for a mere kidney problem.

If Mr Fashola and his colleagues have done what they should it would require far less than N7m to treat this man at home and whoever is paying for  his treatment would spend far less. If what Nigerians want is for their governments to abandon hospitals and selectively sponsor private citizens on foreign medical trips, our legislative houses should pass laws to that effect so that all who need surgery and can't afford to pay will submit applications which will be reviewed by an impartial panel which will recommend people using some defined criteria. That would be fair enough. What is good for a Nollywood star is good for a bus conductor.

Kind-hearted people like Fashola are very hard to come by in our country where some people have billions of dollars of ill-gotten wealth but only turn blind eye and deaf ear to the needy in our society.

Why re u taking it personal. the question is very dumb, how can u ask if someone will all kw is holding a public office if he is using is personal money or nott matters, how many Governors can u point with such heart.
Re: Gov. Fashola Saves Ailing Nollywood Actor, Ifeanyi Dike by bigdoo: 2:20pm On Feb 11, 2011
Very kind gesture from Fashola.  However are we not  blessed with enough resources and professionals in Nigeria to have such hospitals that could cater for the healthcare needs of Nigerians and even people from other parts of the world?  Gone are the days when Indians had to come to Nigeria to seek for greener pastures; when the Naira was worth between 66 to 70 Indian Rupees.  I have observed that the Indian currency has not lost its value from what it used to be in the 1980s when Nigerian students living in India were looked upon as lords because of the purchasing power of the Naira relative to the Indian Rupees.
