God created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th. To my mind the keys to success in life and in business are hidden in the story of how God created the world in Genesis 1: 1-31. Consider creating a business from God's perspective. Be like God. Create your business like God. After-all a lion does not give birth to a lamb. God made you to know him, to love him, to serve him, and to be happy with him in this life and forever in the next (My Book of Catholic Doctrine). Now let's follow God as he created the world-

DAY 01 - IDEAS - LIGHT - Then God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Genesis 1: 3. Holy Bible, NLT.
Picture this for a moment: you walk into your dark bedroom. You flick the light switch and the light comes on. You can see the furniture in the room (or its emptiness). You see your chair, table, bed, the hair comb you left on the bedside table when you rushed out of the room in the morning and your asics running shoes you threw at the foot of your bed after your morning run. All these things where already there before you turned on the light. Nothing was created at the moment you switched on the light. What changed was your ability to see what the darkness did not allow you see previously - what it hid. Light gives clarity. Light does not create what already exists, it simply shows it.

DAY 02 - CIRCUMSTANCE - HEAVEN - And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.  God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
Heaven - the sky represents circumstances and realities beyond our control. Whether you have boundless financial reserves or are bootstrapping your start-up, this stage of business creation demands that the entrepreneur takes into account "heaven" - circumstances beyond your control which would impact your business. This assessment must be honest and as through as possible. If your words or/and actions cannot influence an outcome in a manner you desire or if the outcome you require depends on the actions, words or will of another individual, group or institution then it is best to categorise this factor as heaven.

DAY 03 - ENVIRONMENT - LAND & SEA - And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so.  God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.”
An idea is a seed. The plant it would grow to become is our business structure. We nurture this structure expecting it to bear fruit (jobs and money mostly). But before the seed is planted, the land must first be cleared to create a suitable environment. The dry land represents the business environment in which we are to operate and the waters “seas” are all other business environments not directly related to ours but which if market forces become chaotic enough, have the ability to overflow into the business environment in which we operate, just as waters over costal lands when a tsunami comes to shore.

DAY 04 - TIMING - SUN & MOON - And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,  and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.
There is a time for every thing, a season for everything under the sun. A time to win and a time to lose. In launching a new business, there are optimum seasons in which to launch that increase the chances of success. Bill Gross from IdeaLabs gave a famous TED Talk about 'timing' being the single most important factor for a start-up’s success. Many entrepreneurs prepare a business and launch it whenever it is ready as there is a feeling that success and failure are significantly based on either hard-work, luck or a combination of both. This simply is not true.

DAY 05 - HARMONY - FISH & BIRDS - And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.
Birds represent freedom, life and happiness. Birds such as the owl symbolize wisdom or knowledge. Freedom is a powerful idea, precious enough to fight for and even die for. There are also those who fight to deprive men of their freedoms to varying degrees. Birds represent freedom - the ability to move freely without borders - to be wherever you want to be.

DAY 06 - MANAGERS - MAN AND WOMAN -Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Running a successful enterprise takes more than one individual. In the beginning it is very possible to run a business as a one pony show but as the business becomes more successful, it would be very difficult if not impossible to run the business effectively with one person and you will need to scale in proportion to the demand of your clients and the purposes of the business,

DAY 07 - REST - Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.  By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
