And now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is forecasting that the death toll could reach 182,000 by the fourth week of August, according to an internal government document obtained by Yahoo News and reported by AOL. That CDC model also forecasts between 5,000 and 11,000 new deaths related to the disease in a single week ending Aug. 22, AOL reported. Meanwhile, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, which has been updating its models on coronavirus forecasts, is projecting 230,822 COVID-19-related deaths by Nov. 1 in the U.S.
