The sole creator of Afrobeat, Fela Anikulakpo Kuti died on the 2nd day of August, 1997. The Panafrican Legend stood for a lot of values that would keep his personality, sound, perspective and prophesies relevant throughout history and posterity. With smash hits like "Suffering and smiling", "Water no get enemy" Fela put this country on the map with tours in Catalonia to London and most of Africa. The musical icon laid down the path to what we Afrobeat stars are now enjoying today. His legacy leaves on as a lot of artistes like Beyonce, Kanye, Nas, Burnaboy, Wizkid have all cited him as a major influence. 97, I shall never forget.. The young and old. The weak and strong.. The rich and poor.. All gather to pay respect to the one and only Fela.. Na that day dem know say the people dem love Fela.. From TBS we waka, reach Ikeja waka.. seven hours waka just to carry Fela. Fela make all of us weak for body because nobody wey go fit fight for local men like the way he did.. Rip Abami Eda..
