NESP to support the economy & Nigerians due to covid19 challenges. NESP was designed and to be Monitor and Implemented By Economic Sustainability Committee (Esc) Chair by VP Yemi Osinbajo.
NESP AIMS ARE TO:
1. Create jobs
2. Put money into the economy to stop it from slipping into recession
3. Support small businesses
4. Prioritize local content (Made-in-Nigeria)
SOME OF THE MAJOR PLANS

1. Expansion of the Social Investment Programme

2. Support for MSMEs, especially in assisting with loans and also to restructure their loans with banks.
3. Support for local production and manufacturing of all that is possible, including tech apps, software, shoes, garments, steel fabrication, ceramics and furniture.
4. Installation of Solar Home System, targeting 5 million households 5. 20,000 and 100,000 hectares of new farmland under cultivation in every State

6. Facilitation of broadband connectivity across the country and creation of a wide variety of technology and ICT jobs.
FUNDING NESP

The NESP N2.3 trillion, N500 billion of the stimulus package is already provided for in the amended 2020 Appropriations Act. N1.2 trillion of the funds will be source as structured low cost loans which are interventionist from the Central Bank of Nigeria
as well as other development partners and institutions and N344 billion will be source from bilateral and external sources and also additional funds that we can source locally.

If effectively realised and implemented, Nigeria's aim to Economic recovery growth would be achieved. Osinbajo has set the pace.

The coronavirus has affected the growth of the Nigerian economy and I strongly believe the ESP will play a huge role in bouncing the economy back on its feet. I'd advice that once implementation starts fully strict supervision should be in place to enable the ESP serve its full potentials.
