Denial of service is not hacking.
It just overwhelms the server with multiple requests.
The server stops responding because its confused what request to respond to.
When you hack, you takeover the server.

Probably the guy access premium times websites directly as an admin because him get the username and password of premium time from the university without changing the university internet protocol from static to dynamic

So premium times were able to trace the logging IP details to that university
