Violators of inland waterway protocols on safety of navigation stand to be seriously sanctioned henceforth in line with punishments enshrined in the NIWA enabling Act.

The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr George Muoghalu disclosed this in Lagos, Wednesday. He was speaking at a one-day stakeholders’ sensitization forum organized by the inland waterways regulator following incessant cases of boat accidents which have claimed many lives in different parts of Nigeria in recent months.
