yanabasee1:See when u talk of space exploration Nigeria govt should not even reason that way. It took space x (a private company) to take America to space after 9 yrs. Space exploration is the last thing Nigeria govt should think about. They should leave it for a private investors within or outside Nigeria. |

Dont take this MOU seriously. 1. Nigeria has nothing to contribute in these things. 2. This is just another gimmick of Buhari to show that maybe one day Nigeria will be able to launch Satellite, Good way to make fool Public. 3. MOUs have no values, There is no way India will take seriously. Real thing is actual Framework contract between two equals like US NASA and Indian ISRO and Japanese space research. Like all these 7 nations collaborated to make largest Fusion reactor in France. Buhari is indeed trying hard to divert attention. Amotolongbo: |

Technology/ IT Collaborations between India and the Africans of the relevant African nation become a Zero-sum-game for the African nations in the collaboration but win, win for the Indians. This is because the aim of the nationals of the African nation in question is expertise and Know-how transfer. However, since India isn’t sufficiently technologically advanced to the level where the Africans could meaningfully benefit from technology transfer, the Africans loose out and India gains in the form of prestige as well as financially. This is firstly; secondly, not only do African loose out by learning nothing and yet footing the bill, Africans can also loose out in instances whereby international organizations and business provide programs that are meant to enable the technological, scientific and educational advancement of certain third world nations that are thought to be lagging behind the rest of the world. In insistence such as this, by positioning themselves as partners to relevant African nations qualified for these international grants, the Indians gain the benefits meant for the African nations as heads and qualified experts of these recipient institutions. An example of this might be something like Microsoft, Apple, Face book etc wanting to create institutes in some African nations for the development of African programmers. The African students would never develop an African way of seeing things in programming that might result in an unexpected way of solving problems since Indians would be head of the institute, be doing the real programming so that the Africans learn nothing. The software developed by the Indians behind the scene would be past off as software developed by the young Africans. The African nation would be praised as promising producers of software designers and engineers while making no actual to limited progress in producing young African coders. Nevertheless, the African leaders/ business people of the institute on the African soil would not care because of the National accolades and their share of the financial gains in the form of funding and investments. So the Indians gain as teachers, recipients of the foreign grants, African officials gain as part of the institutions being funded and young Africans gain little in terms of being in charge and developing thire own atual African brand. Phew the above is labored and I’m sure I didn’t explain it right but I hope, I explained enough to provide an inkling. |
