I'm not saying she's a saint. Shes responsible for the design and completion of more than 70% of the project. Infact she delivered some before leaving.

She was also a Managing Director of an oil and gas company before becoming Minister. She wasn't poor

When will they start building underground drainage system for our cities and emerging cities especially in the south (i.e southeast, southsouth and southwest)?

This is the major reason why most of our roads don't last long due to constant rainfall and poor drainage system.

Stop using your dead Abia state as a stand point. That Abia state has the worst roads in Nigeria, is not the reason you should spew rubbish. Tell us why Abia state particularly Aba has the worst roads in Nigeria and Africa at large.

All our Airport terminals are miniatures compared to what other countries have.
One wanders why our politicians build the smallest models of terminals but at overbloated cost.

I wonder what’s Stella did in the airport terminals especially the one in Enugu. After billions of naira was release, they looted d money and did a shabby work on d terminal. Why do we keep on liking those that ripped us dry? Credit should go to current aviation minister in the person of Sirika Hadi who worked tirelessly to ensure that we have a decent Airport in Enugu and others

I traveled to port Harcourt thrice in 2015 and d airport was less than 50% completed, the arrival hall was a tent.stop coming here to spew lies,those of us that travel by air know what this government has done.Kaduna airport was like a classroom without chairs,u had to stand up.

So, does the point in bold mean that Buhari achieved it? The projects were all completely paid for. Of course you don't expect it to be done in one year, do you?
Stella Oduah initiated all these airport projects and the government she served in paid for all of them.

LOOL. Every airport in Nigeria calls itself “international” regardless of whether it receives international flights or not.

Aside from Lagos and Abuja, none of these other airports could be called international airport in the real sense of the word. In January this year, I searched the whole internet looking for a flight to Port Harcourt but no luck.

Even Air France that used to fly to PH no longer have those flights. Enugu airport, when it was in service, only have Ethiopian airlines a couple days per week. Yet we keep shouting international this, international that!

Stella Oduah deserves accolades for her legacy in aviation


President Muhammadu Buhari will launch the new terminal building of Port Harcourt International Airport this week. This project was initiated by the ministry of aviation oversaw by Stella Oduah under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, and was paid for, with the partnership of the Chinese EXIM Bank.

It is commendable that the current administration has stayed the course, seeing the project to fruition, and not cancelling it for “political reasons”. But the truth is, 90 percent of the “inherited” aviation projects were conceptualised, designed and started off by the ministry of aviation under Oduah.

As a matter of fact, it is good to situate accolades where they ought to be. Really, in recent years, has Nigeria had any minister of aviation that can equal Oduah’s achievements? I have tried interrogating this, but the truth remains Oduah made a strong impression on aviation in the country.

Her first assignment as aviation minister was to draw up a road-map for the aviation sector; creating a pathway for the transformation of the industry.

Oduah, as minister of aviation, supervised the holistic rehabilitation of 22 airports in the country and embarked on the construction of termi als in five major airports, which were also transformed from igloos to decent facilities. This includes the International Airport Terminal at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja, which was financed by the Chinese EXIM bank to the tune of $500m. Murtala Muhammed Airport (International terminal) and General Aviation Terminal, Kaduna and Margaret Ekpo International Airports, Calabar – all were rehabilitated. The airports in Sokoto, Owerri and Yola were also remodelled.

She introduced the Perishable Cargo and Aerotrolis concepts to drive the growth and development of not only the aviation sector but also the country.

She also carried out institutional reforms; built the capacity of NCAT to produce enough professionals for both the local aviation market and abroad.

During her tenure, Nigeria was granted its first approval by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). And she also ensured that the Enugu Airport assumed international status, the first for the south-east.

Oduah supervised the installation of high-speed carousels, resistant to luggage jams, which put the era of endless wait for luggage at airports behind‎. She also installed high-security equipment at the airports. But today most of these facilities are broken down owing to a lack of maintenance.

Really, there is much to be said about her performance as aviation minister. Let us juxtapose some of these facts with the current reality at our airports, where 75 percent of facilities are broken down.

We must celebrate these feats and make them the subject of popular discourse?
