Barcelona legend Lionel Messi could be on his way out of the club and numerous teams are already looking to push for a possible blockbuster deal.

According to the Spanish-based publication Sport, Paris Saint-Germain is among the teams ready to inquire for the signing of Messi if he becomes available. The report alludes that the club would even go as far as completing a transfer deal to bring him to Paris. PSG has a clear ambition at winning the UEFA Champions League and even after coming up short in the recent final against FC Bayern Munich, it believes that Messi could help push them over the hump.

The Sport report also names Premier League side Manchester United and Serie A side Inter Milan as two teams who would also push to sign Messi. The latter would not have a problem orchestrating a mega contract agreement with Messi.


At the moment, the situation surrounding Messi’s future with Barcelona is vague. He desires to leave the club as soon as this summer but such a move will be complicated for both sides. According to Sky Sport‘s Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is firm in its position that the Argentine has a €700 million release clause and will not let him leave via the free transfer clause embedded in this deal, which expired in June.

For one, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel would be on-board with bringing Messi to the club as he alluded (via ESPN) to during his Champions League final post-game comments.

“He’s very welcome,” Tuchel said. “What coach says no to Messi?”

If PSG is able to sign Messi, it could very well be the final piece needed to push for a Champions League-winning campaign.
