Well, on a normal day, it shouldn't be seen like he is doing you a favour.
I hope you have something doing though because if you have something significant doing, that can change his mentality.
Lastly, that last statement, if u mean he values to spend one his land than big wedding, he is right about that. My wife wishes we didn't spend all the money we spent on the wedding now. Do the minimal thing u can do. No award for best wedding o and a good wedding doesn't mean a good marriage.

You suggest "that day" isn't about you yet complain about him not spending enough on that day that isn't about you. Since "that day" is for both of you "equally", then allow the young man spend more on the land and you're always welcome to spend more on the wedding.

P.s.: would you be really concerned and possibly grow inpatient if he moved the wedding to enable him develop "the land" fully?
Then of course... He's doing you a favour.

No dearie. No one is doing you any favors. Learn to understand your future husband shortcomings and make him see reasons not by speaking about it but by your actions and love so one day he will understand you are different that's why he is lucky to marry you

Majority of people go to weddings to eat, drink, dance, snap pictures and generally make merry. Any debt incurred in the process is solely on both of you because no one is keeping tab on how elaborate or fancy the wedding is.

Infact nobody really cares

It depends are you a liability ? This is covid era, dont get sucked into blowing all your money over wedding. Weddings are nice but so is survival. If the lady is a liability then yeah he's doing a favour

If a man will be taking over some kind of liability after marrying a woman or the woman has stepped out of the prime years of womanhood, even a marriage dictionary will describe that marriage as favour.
